The Background Story3
Mrs. Waters' voice rang over the intercom, "Lulu King, your father is here."
"Okay," Lulu said as she started procuring her things.
"Where are you headed to?" Nami asked.
"I have to get my passport renewed," Lulu explained.
"Oh, yeah. I forgot..." Nami slapped herself.
"You still need yours?"
"Yes," Nami replied. "I bet you that we're the last two, too..."
"Gah, how did I miss that?" Nagi growled as he settled beside Nami, staring down at his test.
"Miss what?" Nami asked. Nagi blushed and showed her the paper. "The answer was D. You missed the
not at the beginning of the question," she said with a smile.
"How do you keep a 4.0?" Nagi asked nervously.
Nami shrugged, "I know everything obviously."
"So do I," Anka added as she joined Nami and Nagi with her A+ test.
"I always end up forgetting something..." Nagi sighed.
"Must be all of those endorphins, morning boy," Nami said sarcastically.
Nagi blushed and glared at Nami, "You're never going to let anything I say go, are you?"
Nami received her test back with a 101%, "Nope."
"Damn! I forgot to do the bonus essay..." Anka grumbled.
"And I forgot to get a passport," Nami said as she sank into her seat.
"Does that mean you're not going?" Nagi asked quickly.
"I can go, I just
have to get my passport
today," Nami said quietly.
"I'll drive," Nagi said, fishing in his pocket for his keys.
"You're supposed to turn those in to the office..." Anka chided him.
"I am not turning the keys over to the office for somebody to take my car," Nagi replied.
"You have a car?" Nami blinked.
"Yes," Nagi nodded. "Come, come," he said ushering them to the window.
"Which car is yours?" Anka asked.
Nagi clicked a button on his keyring which made the car flash its lights. "How'd you get a Jag?" Nami asked.
"My aunt Jenny gave it to me to spite my uncle Ross who has been cheating on her," Nagi shrugged. "I feel bad about the cheating part, but it's a
Jaguar!"
"Shotgun," Nami said with a grin.
"I wouldn't dream of taking it from you," Anka said with a half smile. "But if it was your uncle's..."
"She bought it for him and because they're married they never did a title transfer," Nagi clarified. "Lucky me."
"What happened to the sexual energies?" Nami asked dryly.
"When you are official with one person, you are only to worry about sexual energies with them," Nagi replied.
"What constitutes official?" Anka asked, nudging Nagi.
"Even just...going steady..." he said slowly. "Why?" his cheeks flushed red.
"Oh, no reason," Anka said in a not-too-convin
cing tone.
"The bell's about to ring, come on," Nami said, slipping her hand into Nagi's and Anka's, dragging them by the door. After the bell rang, Nami shot through the hall, dragging Nagi and Anka with her. She stopped when she reached the car, "Okay, let's go."
Nagi blushed as he unlocked the car, "I think you can compete with my track record."
Nami eased herself into the seat, "I didn't run that fast. Are you coming with?" she asked Anka who was settled behind her.
"Just drop me off wherever we're socializing today," Anka replied.
"Your house?" Nagi asked with a shrug, staring at Nami.
"That works," Nami said happily. "Do you have your phone, Nagi?"
"Here," he said, passing it over to her.
"Lulu, make me an appointment," Nami said before closing the phone.
Anka stepped out of the car, "Don't leave me alone for long," she said before entering Nami's house.
"Why me?" Nagi sighed.
"Because Anka is an agent sent by your parents," Nami said pointedly.
"I see she's told you our conversations," Nagi observed.
"That one amused me," Nami admitted.
"Do you have your ID, birth certificate and the form?" Nagi asked quickly.
"I carry all three," she assured him. "I just keep forgetting..."
"We have three weeks until the trip, it'll be fine," Nagi placed a soothing hand over Nami's.
Nami blushed, "What if I don't get it?"
"Then I won't go so you're not stuck at boring school alone," Nagi declared.
"You've already spent like a grand on the trip," Nami reminded him.
"I might be hanging out with Lulu too much, but it's just a grand," Nagi shrugged.
"I'd hug and kiss you if you weren't driving," Nami said adoringly as she rested her head on his shoulder.
Nagi blushed as he pulled into a parking spot, "Well, let's go see if Lulu made a big enough fuss."
"Alright," Nami agreed as she hopped out of the car.
"What are you waiting for?" Nagi asked as he locked the car.
Nami hopped up at Nagi, embracing him tightly, kissing his lips once, "You're the sweetest!" she said happily.
"Y-you...you're welcome..." Nagi said nervously as he embraced her as well.
"That's all," Nami shrugged as she took Nagi's hand, leading him into the building.
Crispen gave Nami and Nagi a pleading glance. Lulu was demanding something at a desk. "Now, Lulu..." Nagi chided.
"Oh, you're here," Lulu chirped, stopping her tantrum and approaching the pair. "You have an appointment right after me."
"Good to know," Nami said as she embraced Lulu.
"I thought you had your passport since we heard about the trip," Lulu remarked to Nagi.
"I'm Nami's ride," Nagi replied.
"I'll bet you are," Lulu teased.
"My car..." Nagi grumbled.
"First time in a car...a little juvenile, but, not bad," Lulu nodded.
"You know what I mean," Nagi blushed.
Nami glared at Lulu, "You can pick innuendo out of anything, can't you?"
"Pretty much," Lulu admitted.
Kelly peered out the window when a green car pulled up. She watched Nami hop out of the passenger seat, "Nagi's gonna be disappointed." she sighed.
Anka shook her head, "Nah, Nagi's the one who took her to get her passport."
"Since when does he own such a sweet car?" Kelly asked.
"His aunt gave it to him is all I know," Anka said as she continued munching on the ice cream she prepared.
"Nagi has a car?" Dan asked as he stepped out of the kitchen. "Ooooh, it is so sweet looking!" he said happily as he watched Nagi and Nami start for the porch. "Do you think he'll let me drive it?"
"I'm pretty sure Nami's already driven it, so maybe," Anka shrugged.
"She doesn't have a license," Dan hissed.
"Like that matters to Nagi," Kelly agreed with Anka.
"What is that supposed to mean? They're just friends," Dan nodded with confidence.
"Mom, are you aware that dad is going through denial?" Anka asked.
"Yes, he's worse than those two at times," Kelly sighed.
"Nagi, can I drive it? PWWEEEEEEZZZZ?" Dan pleaded as Nagi stepped into the house behind Nami.
"Knock yourself out," Nagi said, tossing him the keys.
Dan went running out of the house excitedly, the others watching with concern. "Nagi, you've created a monster," Kelly assured him.
"Better than telling him no," Nagi explained his reasoning.
"He's right," Nami shrugged.
"Nami, dad's in denial," Anka said before starting into the kitchen.
"About what?" Nami wondered.
"Same thing as you," Anka chirped.
"Same thing as me?" Nami tilted her head to the side.
"You'll get it later," Anka assured her.
"Why are we all being summoned to the auditorium?" Lulu wondered.
Nagi shrugged, "Probably something that they can't single people out for, and they have to tell the entire school so they're not sued for discrimination."
"Oh, the usual..." Nami murmured tiredly.
"I heard it was about the dress code when I was in the office this morning," Anka offered.
"What about the dress code?" Lulu asked.
"That our spaghetti strap shirts show our bras and that we should wear pantyhose with skirts..." Anka tapered off.
"The usual," Nami shrugged as she settled into the front row with Lulu in front of her and Nagi behind her and Anka behind him.
After several seconds, the hushed whispers drew silent and their principal walked out onto the stage. The proper woman tapped the microphone twice before speaking. "As you know we have had many complaints about breaking the dress code."
"Yeah, sure, you complain," Lulu said dryly. "The men applaud."
"Well, I'm tired of it. I have too many other things to worry about, so we're offering a new solution," the woman announced.
"Wait, what?" Nagi asked.
"What?" Nami questioned his incredulous tone.
"The...there are rule books beside her..." he stammered as he pointed to the chair beside the podium.
"And?" Lulu asked as their principal stepped behind the curtain and returned with Mrs. Waters and Mrs. Shaffer, the two secretaries who had plenty of rule books to pass out to the students.
"Uniforms..." Nagi gulped as he sank into his seat.
"School uniforms?" Nami asked.
"I see you've already guessed, Miss Jennings," their principal smiled. "You're all being forced into them to avoid dress code violations. The rule book has an updated acceptable dress code with earrings and accessories."
"Is she serious?" Anka asked.
"I am quite serious," the principal replied.
"I get to be a school girl!?" Lulu's eyes twinkled.
Mrs. Shaffer stepped up to the microphone, "With the funding, you each get one gym uniform and three school uniforms. In the case that your uniforms are dirty, torn and so on, you may substitute them for matching suits and nothing else. The ties are required at all times to be worn by both male and female students save during gym class when that uniform is to be worn instead. There are no requirements for shoes, except gym class' shoes which are obvious. Science labs will require you to wear the lab coats as always, and your vocational required uniforms may be worn in the morning before you depart for the technical school, though you must have changed into your uniform before returning to the school. Those are the new changes to the dress code," she said before stepping away from the podium.
Mrs. Waters handed each of them a booklet. "So you know the acceptable accessories..." she smiled at the Gothed out Nami and Anka.
The principal took the podium again, "And you will line up single file to receive your uniform. You will be expected to change into it this morning immediately afterward."
"Wait, what?" Nami asked, still in disbelief.
"Calm down, we can still wear fishnets, sweat bands, leather bracers, necklaces, earrings, piercings and boots," Anka assured her.
"I'm now going to feel so out of place," Nagi sighed.
"I'm going to be in a skirt and poofy shirt..." Nami squeaked.
Nagi blushed, "Well, black is one of our school's colors...so maybe the skirt will be black..."
Lulu whispered to Nagi, "You're just picturing her in a mini skirt, huh?"
"Drop it," Nagi said flatly to Lulu as he stood.
"Single file, now," Mrs. Waters said as she dismissed the students.
Nami blushed as she watched Nagi emerge from the male disciplinarian's office in a suit jacket, his white beater, a pair of dress pants, a tie on his upper arm and in his converse all stars that he had been wearing prior. He too, was carrying the bags with all of his uniforms and his other clothing that he was wearing before the enforced uniforms.
"I feel so...debate team..." Nagi sighed.
"You look better than you feel," Nami assured him.
"And how do you feel?" Nagi asked sheepishly, flinging the bags over his shoulder.
"Constricted, conformed and ugly," Nami made a face. "The only thing Goth you can see are my fishnets and pantyhose..." she said as she glanced down at her legs, "Well, the boots...."
Nagi blushed, "You're still prettier than the others, what do you know?"
Nami blushed in return, "You don't have to lie to make me feel better, you know."
"I'm not lying," Nagi assured her. "You are prettier," he said pointedly.
"What about Anka?" Nami wondered.
"Anka's pretty too," Nagi replied evenly, losing the blush on his cheeks.
"And Lulu?" Nami added.
"No, not going there," Nagi said flatly.
"Why don't you turn her in for sexual harassment any longer?" Nami asked.
"The office is backed up enough from Lulu sexual harassment stories. If she tries touching me I just push a pressure point," Nagi shrugged.
Anka appeared, carrying her clothes from before and her other uniforms, "This is the cruelest thing ever..."
"Tell me about it..." Nami said as she began playing with the material of her skirt.
"Yay, me..." Lulu chimed in as she twirled into the office. Her skirt was hiked, her ribbon was in her hair and her shirt was unbuttoned enough to show her cleavage. "I love this school!" she declared as she rolled up her stockings to the middle of her thigh, her high heels adding to the effect of her long legs.
"I may go blind," Nagi said as he turned away from Lulu.
"Oh, dear," Lulu shook her head. "Nami, flash him so he gets his vision back."
"W-wha-" Nami flushed red, turning away from Lulu as well.
"I'll just not stare at Lulu too long. I'll never want to have sex if I keep that up," Nagi whimpered.
"You'd figure that your family would have done that already," Anka laughed.
"Actually, they just make me never want to have sex in my own bed. Hotel rooms and other places are just dandy," Nagi said sheepishly.
"Do any of your aunts or uncles work in any hotels?" Nami asked.
"Not to my knowledge, but we all know my luck," Nagi said as he started out of the office.
"Hey, can I throw this is your car?" Nami asked as she chased after Nagi.
"Exactly where I'm headed," Nagi replied, letting her catch up to him.
"They still don't know they like each other, do they?" Lulu asked.
"No," Anka shook her head. "But I'm gonna follow so I have a place to put these," she said pointedly as she started after Nagi and Nami.
